Hey friends!
It is time for a good ole life update! 🙂
I have been on the Race for about 2 weeks. My squad and I are in Gainesville GA, tenting in the woods, learning more about Jesus, and simply getting to know the sweet souls that makeup Gap g.
Let’s talk about a day in the life of a newbie Racer in the woods of Gainesville GA. The routine is new, so we are still learning but here is the layout!
The morning 🙂
The mornings are sweet around here. I wake up either to the tap of a friend or the rustle of tents and the sounds of the earth (I have zero capabilities to wake up to my own alarm and I have overslept a couple of times, oops) Then I tackle the difficult task of getting ready in a tent. It is a pretty hard game, friends. I also have found joy in it in an odd little way. Just having a little time by myself in my tent to put on mascara has been a happy moment in my days here. After I am all ready, I take the ill hike down to our squad meeting point (SMP) to spend time with the Father before breakfast. We have squad devos, and session. The speakers switch up for sessions, each with an incredible message.
The afternoon 🙂
Before we head to lunch, all the racers do some cleaning to keep our home tidy. Then come classic after lunch activities, such as free time, squad session, and then squad time. Squad session is typically lead by one of our squad mentors. Squad time is led by a couple of squadmates and it gives our group of 26, time to work on fundraising/blogs, exercise, or just to have some good fun. It’s a bonding experience and it’s happy. Lots of squad things in the afternoon 😉
The evening 🙂
After a delicious din prepared by the most amazing kitchen staff, we meet with our little group of 5 girls for some team time. We have different things we focus on each day of the week. It’s been about 2 weeks and my team are some of my very favorite people. Avodah is near and dear to my heart. (Avodah is our team’s name and I will explain in a blog to come!)
Also, life looks different on weekends. Saturday is Sabbath! You can sign up for an errand run off-campus or you can simply rest, spend time with the Lord, and have some fun. We LOVE Saturdays. On Sundays, we have squad church which is so sweet. A lot of us are starting to miss our home church but through squad church, I can clearly see the Lord’s intentionality. A church is not a building rather it’s the people who make the church. I love our church. The rest of Sundays are rest days to get ready for the week ahead!
There you have it, a day in the life of a Racer in GA. Campus life is sweet. More to come on what the Lord is teaching me and of what’s going on in the first couple weeks of my Race.
I also want to say another HUGE thank you to my support partners for your prayers and donations! I truly could not be here without you, and I am deeply grateful.
Much love,
Olivia <3
